Donated to Washington University Libraries in 1976, Robert S. Elegant audio collection, the world’s largest personal archives of audio tape recording of Mao’s China, features 678 reels with more than 600-hour recordings of international and domestic radio broadcasts, interviews, and public celebrations from the height of the Cultural Revolution (1966-1971). This presentation explores a path University Libraries in partnership with research scholars forward to making this collection accessible and exploitable to study the dynamic soundscape of the Cultural Revolution.
