All-Libraries Day Symposium
Tuesday May 20, 2025 9:00am - 10:00am CDT

The Evolution of Bioinformatics Services at Bernard Becker Medical Library: Bernard Becker Medical Library is a central hub for information, resources, and services for everyone on our School of Medicine campus. As trends on campus evolve, new services can be launched to meet increasing demands in a specific area. This presentation will describe how the Bioinformatics@Becker service started, its growth over the years, and eventual expansion into two distinct service areas: Research Computing and Data Management and Sharing.

The Sound of Mao’s Last Revolution: Robert S. Elegant Audio Collection Moving Forward: Donated to Washington University Libraries in 1976, Robert S. Elegant audio collection, the world’s largest personal archives of audio tape recording of Mao’s China, features 678 reels with more than 600-hour recordings of international and domestic radio broadcasts, interviews, and public celebrations from the height of the Cultural Revolution (1966-1971). This presentation explores a path for University Libraries in partnership with research scholars to make this collection accessible and exploitable to study the dynamic soundscape of the Cultural Revolution.
